As a person who loves to hike, I have walked many roads:) I walk in the forest, by the sea in the archipelago. I walk in mountains and in cities and it’s always exciting to find out what’s around the corner.
Cities are fascinating. There is always some kind of surprises and they hold a lot of different environments: houses, parks, shops, streets, water and so on. My interpretation of this weeks WordPress Photo Challenge brings me back to Stockholm and a trip to the south part of the city. On this walk I found small gardens with sunflowers:
Suddenly when I looked up, I saw a clear blue sky and some wonderful old houses, reaching for the sky.
I continued my walk on a narrow path and came back to city streets, and the view was amazing. I strolled down the street and continued my walk down the road taken.
Solitude is a positive word for me. I love to walk on empty streets all by myself, left with my thoughts. I need it to recover, it might be a walk in an empty street or spending time alone in nature. In stressful times its easy to forget about taking time for myself, which makes me even more stressed. This photo shows a narrow street in the old town, Stockholm. It’s crowded in the old town, but some of the narrow streets are empty. Wonder feeling walking around all alone:)

Theme 71 of 365 in my photo challenge. It is time for a “eye-catcher”. One of my favorite things to lay my eyes on, love the colors and the fragrance. The photo is taken in Södermalm, Stockholm on the street Götgatan. Södermalm is an awesome part of the town to visit, read more about it here. I will have some more photos from Södermalm here in upcoming themes.
Södermalm is now a trendy part of the Swedish capital. A oas high above the rest of Stockholm. You can find nice walking paths with a view over the rest of the city. Old houses can be found everywhere and here is a lot of street life. The great thing is that you can also find a lot of flowers, gardens and nature, in the middle of the city:) If you like to sit in the street having a coffee while watching all the people passing by, this is the right place. I visited Södermalm yesterday, a sunny and warm day, we really had a great time walking around the area. I hope you will enjoy my photos from our trip.
This post represents my entry in -Weekly photo challenge–, this weeks theme is Monument. If you would like to participate or just read more, please click on the link for more info of this challenge.
On a visit to Stockholm last weekend I had this challenge in mind. I took a long walk through town and some wonderful sights. I think there are different kinds of monuments, this will show in my entry, there are some difference between my objects.
Thirst I took photos of the City Hall “Tre kronor”. I also captured some cherry blossoms (I love those) in the Kungsträdgården, that also is a monument but just this time of the year. My third photo pictures a boat that actually is a hostel, a famous one in Sweden; “Af Chapman”, an impressive old sailboat. The last photo shows the fun fair in Stockholm called “Gröna Lund”. I took the photo from a small peninsula across the water called “Kastellholmen”. Wonderful view of “Djurgården” and the sea.
This post contains another portion of photographs from Stockholm, this time it is not street life, but Stockholm water.
Steam boats in Stockholm water
There are plenty of old steam boats in Stockholm, some of them is under recovering and others are in traffic. Just a few of them are real steam boats, most of them have a diesel motor instead of the steam generator. Most of the boats today traffic different routes in the archipelago for example to “Fjäderholmarna” or Vaxholm”. Many tourists go with the boats in summertime, so does a lot of natives. There are boats heading to “Djurgården”, on that route there are a lot of people traveling all year.
Here you can see some photos from the dockside and also the Stockholm water front, I have focused on closing up on the boats. I love the old boats and all wonderful details.
I hope you found these boats as wonderful as I do, if you ever visit Stockholm these are definitely worth looking for.
This weeks theme in theWeekly Photo Challenge(click the link to read more) is street life. A great theme with lot of opportunities. Last weekend I went to Stockholm, a beautiful and sunny day when springtime was in the air. There where Cherry trees int heir first blossom (se my last post) and a lot of people was out in the sun.
For this theme I have chosen some photos from that visit in Stockholm. Somehow ended up with a lot of “sea life” photos, not unusual going to Stockholm, but these will be presented in a later post. Here comes my street life entry from Stockholm street life;
Yesterday when I visited Stockholm I found out that the cherry trees in Kungsträdgården just started to blossom. This is an annual “event” for people in Stockholm and from outside town. Some weeks not far from now the trees will be all covered in pink, it is a magnificent view. I will return to see if I am able to capture that as well.
The trees are supposed to blossom in the end of April or early May, so this is quite a finding:) All trees is not yet in full bloom, but there was plenty of flowers already.
It was not only Stockholm cherry trees in blossom I captured I also captured street life (here) and som sea life (here). You can find my posts by clicking the links.
I am not sure if I will get this right… but I try my best. These three photos are taken on the same street in Old Town, Stockholm. The second photo is taken a bit closer to the object in the third one, I hope this will work as an entry to the challenge:)
Really beautiful houses in these narrow streets, and i managed to find some without a lot of people strolling “in my way”… Every street, every house has a story on it´s own, old houses are just wonderful, I think.
I love this open window, simple but a wonderful detail, showing some life is going on nearby.
And at last some golden light in the “end of the street”, this cold day… Focus is by purpouse down there over the water.
A few weeks ago, I went to see a sunnyStockholm. Sunshine is no usual weather in Sweden in December, but this day was really nice for a “photo walk”.
Although it was a sunny day, the wind was really cold, but there was no rain and hardly no clouds. December sun is very low down in the sky so it offers a special kind of light that I like a lot. Some of the photos from the old town in Stockholm you can se in my photo album called “Stockholm”. The Old town is a lovely place to visit.
Photos in this post is taken from outside the city hall.
I wonder about the “Explored”. It is a strange phenomenon. I have got 6 photos there during the last week. Earlier it’s just 3 before in all time. I know that there is some statistics in it and that “they” sort out the photos that have a lot of views, but still it is a mystery:) Maybe this gives a hint; wikihow. Or just keep on taking photos because it is so much fun! Chasing the Explore will maybe ruin all the happines in my work.
My latest picture on Explored is this one:
It is taken outside the City Hall in Stockholm, Sweden.
I have taken been experimenting some with shadows before. I think they can be interesting. And make interesting photos. Here is another example of that:
